Wine Review
WINE - Ecco Domani - Merlot - 2012
aromas of: cherry, raspberry, spice
tastes of: black cherry, raspberry, plum, coffee
* high acidity, light tannin, spicy finish
price tag: $12
verdict: 3/5
I love Merlot's because they are usually a very balanced and versatile wine. This wine was not that at all! I didn't dislike it, but I wasn't blown away. It was not as full bodied as I'm used to and there was way too much acid present. I feel like it would probably go well with some fatty or spicy food, but for me it was just a late night sipper!

Thanksgiving Wines
HOLIDAYS! Time to gather and give thanks for all the wonderful things in life. My Thanksgiving is usually spent serving other families, but it makes coming home to a loving husband, a delicious dinner, and a few bottles of wine that much more appreciated! Also, having the weekends around the holidays to gather with the people I love is fantastic.
I always provide the wine.
If you are the wine provider this Turkey Day, or want to bring something delicious to dinner, here are a few Thanksgiving wine ideas!

With so many different flavors at the dinner table, and so many different people to please, it is best to showcase a few varieties at Thanksgiving. It is also a good idea to choose easy drinking, medium bodied, well balanced wines. ...MOST IMPORTANTLY enjoy the company of those you love!

WINE - Erath - Pinot Noir - 2012

tastes of: tart cherry, blackberry, plum, spice, smoke
* bright acidity, balanced tannin, long finish
price tag: $18

paired:
This was paired with a glorious weeknight fall dinner. I enjoyed the wine even more after tasting the sweet potato and pepper flavors in the salad. I would say this portrays an Oregon Pinot Noir very well. Great acidity, good earth, light and simple.

WINE OF THE SEASON
SILKY ELEGANT COMPLEX
Once the cooler weather arrives, I start gravitating towards red wines. Pinot Noir is a wonderful wine for the autumn season because it is a transition into fuller body reds. It is light and more delicate than most reds. In a quality Pinot Noir you will find delicious berry flavors, mushroom, and earth. It is a wine that pairs with almost anything, especially roasted foods... perfect for fall weather!
aromas of: tart cherry, strawberry, rose
(French Burgundy is known for being very aromatic)
flavors of: cherry, strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, licorice, mushroom, earth
- semi dry - dry
- body: light - medium
- acidity: medium - high
- alcohol: low - medium
- tannin: low
Many would label Pinot Noir as a complex wine. It is a favorite by many wine lovers and wine enthusiasts because, when made well, Pinot Noir delivers so many intriguing tastes. It's also very difficult to grow and needs a lot of attention. The character of the wine depends very much on the land and the weather, as well as the work done in the vineyard throughout the year.
Because it is so temperamental, it will taste very different depending on where it is grown and how it is made.
